About us

Welcome to Long Melford Cricket Club

Founded in 1855 and reformed in 1954, Long Melford Cricket Club is a vibrant, friendly, and well-managed club nestled in the picturesque village setting of the Suffolk/Essex border.

We are proud to field four senior teams and the Long Melford Cricket Academy, reflecting our commitment to nurturing young talent. The Academy aims to seamlessly transition players of all ages and abilities into senior cricket, building a pathway that ensures development and success. As an ECB Clubmark-accredited organisation, we uphold the highest standards in coaching, safety, and player welfare.

Cricket for Everyone

Our teams compete in the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties League, offering players the thrill of fully competitive cricket. For those who prefer a more relaxed yet occasionally challenging experience, we also field two Sunday teams in the Hunts County Bats Cricket League. The 2nd XI is dedicated to helping older juniors hone their skills and gain valuable experience in a senior environment.

Exceptional Facilities

Our well-maintained ground is a hallmark of the Club’s quality, frequently hosting representative matches throughout the season. We are also equipped with brand-new, 3-lane artificial practice nets to enhance player training.

Coaching and Community

We offer adult coaching and practice sessions every Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm during the season. For juniors, coaching is held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, led by our team of six qualified Stage 1 coaches and one Stage 2 coach. Boys, girls, and parents are all welcome to join our inclusive and supportive environment.

Beyond the Boundary

Long Melford Cricket Club is more than just cricket. We host year-round social events, including quiz nights, race nights, and BBQs, fostering a strong sense of community. Our pavilion features a well-stocked bar and is available for private hire, making it the perfect venue for celebrations and gatherings.

Whether you’re a seasoned player, an aspiring youngster, or simply looking to enjoy cricket in a picturesque setting, Long Melford Cricket Club warmly welcomes you.
